Future Teachers

The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences is home to more than 3,000 undergraduate students. It offers a broad range of Education majors and minors such as Elementary Education, Special Education, or Math and Science Education.

The David T. Bailey Graduate School of Education consistently receives the highest rankings among Teacher Prep Institutions in our state. Led by our 4-year model or our 5-year model, our Teacher Education programs prepare educators to flourish in the public education system. Our faculty and staff are committed to training students to teach with a social justice perspective and high ethical standards through a problem-based approach and close collaborations with current public school educators. Students in the LLC will have the opportunity to connect with highly skilled faculty and staff who are experts in the field.

The Future Teachers LLC will be located in Magnolia Hall for 2024-2025. All LLC locations are subject to change.

The following majors are eligible for the LLC:

  • Child and Family Studies: Early Childhood Education PreK-3
  • Deaf Studies: Deaf Hard of Hearing
  • Deaf Studies: American Sign Language
  • Elementary Education K-5
  • Special Education: Interventionist and Comprehensive

Community Requirements

Eligible students must be admitted to the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences. All Future Teachers LLC students are required to enroll in the Education 100s course their first semester. In addition, you will participate in community activities and experiential learning experiences throughout the year.

Kinesiology LLC

The Kinesiology LLC: sponsored by CEHHS, now also includes a supportive and engaging environment for students who are headed toward careers and graduate study in allied health professions, health-related fitness, and various other fields that have kinesiological foundations (sports psychology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, etc.). LLC participants will have the opportunity to take courses together and engage in professional, personal, and leadership development opportunities to supplement their in-class experiences.

The Kinesiology spaces in the Future Teachers LLC are open to any incoming first-year students within the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences with a declared major in Kinesiology. Each participant will be required to enroll in a First-Year Studies 101 course (specific to their LLC) during the Fall term. College connectedness, peer networking, and other experiential learning opportunities will be available throughout the year.
