Room Selection for Incoming Students

University Housing is excited to welcome you to the University of Tennessee!  Living on campus is an important component to your UT experience, and we are happy you are joining the Volunteer community!

Room Selection at the University of Tennessee allows incoming first year students to select their own room, providing an opportunity to choose their campus experience.

To ensure the quality of the first-year experience, UT requires all first year students to live on campus.

Please review our step-by-step instructions below to participate in the 2018-2019 Room Selection for Incoming Students:

 

Available beginning October 20

Shortly after confirming your enrollment, University Housing will send an email notification indicating that your contract has been activated. Please follow the instructions below to complete your contract:

  1. Log into My UT Housing using your NetID and password.
  2. If you have forgotten your password, click here and follow the instructions provided. Once you re-set your password, return to step one.
  3. Follow the prompts to confirm student information, and to select and confirm roommate and suitemate request(s).
  4. You are preparing to enter into a legally binding contract for University Housing for the Fall 2018-Spring 2019 academic year. Click the “I Agree” button to accept the University Housing Terms & Conditions of the housing contract.
  5. Once you submit the housing contract, you will be eligible to participate in the Room Selection process. University Housing will contact you in April with instructions to participate.

Beginning in April, you may log into My UT Housing to view your Room Selection Window. You may request any available room at any time during this date range. Students who do not select a room during their Room Selection date range will be automatically assigned by University Housing.

Room Selection will be open 24 hours per day for each window, and University Housing staff is available from 8am – 5pm Monday-Friday to assist students with questions.

Please follow the instructions below to select your room:

  1. Log into My UT Housing using your NetID and password.
  2. If you have forgotten your password, click here and follow the instructions provided. Once you re-set your password, return to step one.
  3. Click on “Room Selection for Incoming Students” link.
  4. Review your roommate choices and select roommate and suitemate request(s).
  5. Select an available room. Available rooms are determined by certain criteria, including the number of requested roommates, gender, and spaces held for various university academic programs.

University Housing is excited to invite our residents to find their roommate and meet other residents through the RoomSync app on Facebook!

Click the link below to add the app and find your roommate. We recommend that you not click the link from your mobile device; wait until you are in front of a computer. Don’t worry, there is a mobile app that you can add after joining RoomSync.

Once you have matched with your roommate on RoomSync, you will need to make your request official by visiting requesting your roommate through My UT Housing.

Living & Learning Community applications will be available beginning February 1, 2018.

First year students who wish to participate in a Living and Learning Community must first apply for consideration. Click here to learn more.

Acceptance decisions will be made during the Spring 2018 semester. Once you have been accepted into a Living & Learning Community, you will be able to select your room from a predetermined list during your selection window. Please follow the instructions below to select your room:

  1. Log into My UT Housing using your NetID and password.
  2. If you have forgotten your password, click here and follow the instructions provided. Once you re-set your password, return to step one.
  3. Click on “Room Selection for Incoming Students” link.
  4. Review your roommate choices and select roommate and suite mate request(s). Your roommates and suite mates must also be members of your Living & Learning Community.
  5. View the LLC Building Chart to find the building that your LLC is housed in.
  6. Select your LLC building from the drop-down menu. A list of available rooms identified for the Living & Learning Community will appear.
  7. Select an available room. Available rooms are determined by certain criteria, including the number of requested roommates, gender, and spaces held for various university academic programs.
