Room Selection for Transfer Students

University Housing is excited to welcome you to the University of Tennessee!  Living on campus is an important component to your UT experience, and we are happy you are interested in joining the Volunteer community!

To ensure the quality of the UT experience, transfer students are highly encouraged, but not required, to live on campus.

Step 1: Complete Your application

Shortly after confirming your enrollment, University Housing will send an email notification indicating that your application has been activated.  Please follow the instructions below to complete your application:

  1. Log into University Housing Portal using your NetID and password.
  2. If you have forgotten your password, click here and follow the instructions provided.  Once you re-set your password, return to step one.
  3. Follow the prompts to confirm student information, and to select and confirm roommate request.
  4. You are preparing to enter into a legally binding contract for University Housing for the Fall 2020-Spring 2021 academic year. Click the “I Agree” button to accept the University Housing Terms & Conditions of the housing contract.

Once you submit the housing application, you will be eligible to participate in the Room Selection process. University Housing will contact you via Volmail with instructions to participate.

Housing is guaranteed for first-year students only. If you are completing this process as a transfer student, your application will be considered on the basis of space availability.  If you have completed your application prior to April, we will contact you if space is available.

University Housing application for transfer students enrolling for the spring semester are sent to Volmail accounts late in the fall semester.  Shortly after completing your application, University Housing will assign you to an available space in a residence hall.  Space will continue to be assigned through the first week of spring classes

Transfer students interested in living on campus for mini-term or summer courses can access the University Housing application through their University Housing Portal.  Shortly after completing your application, University Housing will assign you to an available space in a summer school residence hall.  Space will continue to be assigned throughout the summer.
