Room Selection for Incoming Students

University Housing is excited to welcome you to the University of Tennessee!  Living on campus is an important component to your UT experience, and we are happy you are joining the Volunteer community!

Room Selection at the University of Tennessee allows incoming first-year students to select their own room, providing an opportunity to choose their campus experience.

To ensure the quality of the first-year experience, UT requires all first-year students to live on campus.

Please review our step-by-step instructions below to participate in Room Selection for Incoming Students:

Shortly after confirming your enrollment, University Housing will send an email notification indicating that your contract has been activated. Please follow the instructions below to complete your contract:

  1. Log in to your University Housing Portal using your NetID and password.
  2. If you have forgotten your password, click here and follow the instructions provided. Once you re-set your password, return to step one.
  3. Select Manage My Housing from the top navigation.
  4. Once you submit the housing contract, you will have the option to complete a Roommate Matching Profile and browse for potential roommates.
  5. Return in May to your University Housing Portal to participate in the Room Selection process. University Housing will contact you in late April with instructions to participate.

Living & Learning Community applications will be available beginning February 3, 2019.

First-year students who wish to participate in a Living and Learning Community must first apply for consideration. Click here to learn more.

Acceptance decisions will be made during the Spring 2020 semester. Once you have been accepted into a Living & Learning Community, you will be able to select your room from a predetermined list during your selection window. Please follow the instructions below to select your room:

  1. Log in to you University Housing Portal using your NetID and password.
  2. If you have forgotten your password, click here and follow the instructions provided. Once you re-set your password, return to step one.
  3. Select LLCs from the top navigation (Available Feb 3).
  4. Review your roommate requests under Manage My Housing. Your roommate  must also be a member of your Living & Learning Community.

Once you have completed your housing contract, you will be eligible to select your room in May.  University Housing will contact you in April with specific instructions on how to select your room.
