By exposing students to different ways of life, the HGA LLC helps students better understand the world and their place within it.Community RequirementsThis community will be open to sophomores, juniors and seniors in good standing of the Chancellor’s Honors Program, 1794 Scholars, Honors Leadership, and Haslam Scholars who commit to living in the LLC for a full academic year. Priority will be given to second-year students. HGA students must pursue a global or cross-cultural emphasis within the honors courses they take while in the LLC. In this way, the HGA LLC will not have a uniform class requirement but will allow students to meet the CHP course requirements while staying true to their individual course of study. They will be required to attend at least two LLC academic-programming events per semester.LLC LocationCurrently the HGA LLC is located in Stokely Residence Hall but that could change for the 2018 - 2019 academic year.Why do you thing Global and Cultural Awareness is important? * RequiredHow will an emphasis on Global and Cultural Awareness improve your Honors and Scholars experience? * RequiredAccess Living and Learning CommunityThe Access Living and Learning Community (Access LLC), offers second-year students access to a residential experience that will intentionally focus upon career development and personal development through academic enrichment and expanding cultural awareness of the East Tennessee region. Second-year students who participate in this community will complete and earn a Personal and Professional Development Certificate through the Center for Career Development. Access refers to the advantage of structured, supportive, and specially planned opportunities afforded to students living in this LLC. Personal reflection following career and personal development opportunities will support students as they develop their goals and action steps necessary to achieve their goals. Students who participate in this LLC will a) increase knowledge of their unique interests, skills and values and b) develop academic and professional goals congruent with their interests, skills and values, and c) expand their knowledge of local and regional culture while connecting with other second-year students in the LLC through meaningful relationships.Community RequirementsThe Access LLC seeks second-year students who are committed to developing a positive community with other second-year students and in making the most of their next year at the University of Tennessee. Students living in the access LLC will be expected to complete Access: Personal and Professional Development Certificate, offered through the Center for Career Development. While no courses are required, a menu of activities, exercises, events, and one-on-one sessions focused on the academic enrichment and career development of the students in the community will be required to complete the certificate.Why you are interested in the Access Living Learning Program for second year students and how will it benefit to you? * RequiredArmy ROTC Living and Learning CommunityThe Army ROTC LLC is a community of students interested in gaining a commission as an officer in the US Army. The community provides cadets with opportunities to further their self-preparation in the areas of leadership development, professional knowledge, and military proficiency. Through the LLC, cadets will have access to support networks and mentors within the ROTC program, and they will establish life-long relationships to help them professionally and personally through their military careers. Community RequirementsArmy ROTC LLC community members are required to enroll in the Army ROTC class that corresponds to their course year, attending physical training three times per week, and participate in other ROTC events (semester training event, water survival test, tailgates, etc.).Why you are interested in Army ROTC Living & Learning Community as an upper classman and how will it benefit to you? * RequiredHow do you see yourself positively influencing first-year students in the Army ROTC LLC? * RequiredBy submitting your application, you are agreeing to the following:1. This Living and Learning Community Application (agreement) is entered by and between The University of Tennessee, on behalf of its Department of University Housing for its Knoxville Campus (University) and Student. In consideration for the LLC services for the Fall-Spring academic year, the student agrees to abide by the terms and conditions of the chosen Living and Learning Community and the Department of University Housing.2. The Living and Learning Community Application will take priority over any building and/or roommate preference selected on the housing contract. If you do choose the LLC and you have previously completed a roommate match with a non-LLC member, we will contact that roommate to notify them that they are no longer matched with a roommate for room selection.3. The Students agrees to maintain eligibility for the Living and Learning Community to which they have been assigned through meeting the expectations of their communities and participation in required courses and activities.4. If selected as a member of a Living and Learning Community, a one-time nonrefundable $50 LLC fee will be billed in the fall semester to the student's account accessible in MyUTK; please note that is may be deducted from financial aid. In special cases when space becomes available in the spring, a student joining an LLC will be billed a one-time nonrefundable $25 LLC fee. Fees support LLC Initiatives. The $50 fee covers both the fall and spring terms.5. Should a student no longer remain eligible for the LLC in which they reside, the Department of University Housing reserves and may exercise the right to administratively relocate a student from a residential space and deny continued privileges otherwise provided to LLC students.6. If Student is accepted to the Living and Learning Community they agree to be a member through submitting this application.
