If you choose to remain in University Housing, you should understand that the university has the right, at any time, to decide that it is in the university’s best interest (e.g. for health, safety, or operational concerns) to no longer allow exceptions to this Housing policy, and to require all students who have been granted an exception to vacate university Housing.
You should understand that, if you remain in University Housing, you could contract coronavirus/COVID-19 and be infected with coronavirus/COVID-19 despite any preventive efforts made by the university.
You should understand that other students may also remain in University Housing, and the university is not responsible if you contract coronavirus/COVID-19 from another student.
You should understand that employees and other individuals may have access to University Housing, and the university is not responsible if you contract coronavirus/COVID-19 from an employee or other individual.
You should understand that individuals can be infected with coronavirus/COVID-19 and show no symptoms for up to 14 days, and perhaps longer, and that other infected individuals can spread the infection even though they may show no symptoms.
If you choose to remain in University Housing, you are accepting the risk of novel coronavirus/COVID-19 infection while residing in University Housing, and you are willingly accepting the risk of sickness, hospitalization, and death from novel coronavirus/COVID-19 infection while residing in University Housing.
You understand that if you contract coronavirus/COVID-19 (or otherwise get sick) while living in University Housing, you are responsible for providing your own medical care, assistance, and medication. The university will have no obligation to provide medical care or assistance for you, other than care that is already available to you at the Student Health Center.
If you choose to remain in University Housing, you are agreeing to follow all rules established by the university for living in University Housing during this time. You should understand that these rules will be more strict than normal University Housing rules and could change during your stay.
You should understand that staffing in University Housing will be limited during this period, and you may be asked to assist with a living-related task such as cleaning your bathroom and taking out your trash.
You should understand that you may be required to transfer from your previously assigned room to a different room, or to a different residence hall.
You should understand that university dining will be operating on a limited basis and that the university may be providing meals in a different manner than it has previously provided meals (e.g. food may only be available to carry out and may be available in fewer locations).
If you choose to remain in University Housing, you understand that if you show symptoms consistent with coronavirus/COVID-19 (as determined in the sole discretion of the university), test positive for coronavirus/COVID-19, or are otherwise deemed to be a health or safety risk by the university, the university may ask you to move rooms or out of University Housing.
If you remain in University Housing, you are agreeing that, upon request by the University, you will voluntarily move rooms or out of University Housing within the time period established by the University. You understand that, under these conditions, the university will not be able to provide you with much advance notice to relocate or vacate University Housing, and the university will have no obligation to find you alternative housing.
