Conference Assistant

The conference assistant staff participates on teams specifically designed to implement the housing operations of a summer conference, gaining experience in customer service, and conference management. CA teams will be assigned to individual conferences/residence halls, providing an individualized experience to each conference attendee.

The Orientation Team is a summer position, designed to assist incoming students during Orientation. Work rotations allow all team members to experience: assignments, customer service, recruitment, marketing, communications, special events, guided tours, social media and public speaking.  So no matter what your skill set is, you will have the opportunity to find the area that best fits you.

Begins Spring 2017

The student photographer focuses on capturing the sense of community on our campus through photography.  The student photographer must be comfortable shooting events as well as staging photo shoots.  The student photographer will also gain experience with editing and cataloging.  Photographs are utilized on the web and in print publications, and the student photographer is permitted to use photos taken in their professional portfolio.

Begins Summer 2017

The Student Graphic Designer position focuses on providing graphic design assistance to the Vols @ Home Team and serves as a resource for the Department of University Housing.  Projects include digital and print projects, and range from flyers to infographics.

The Content Marketing team focuses on social media and inbound marketing, helping students and families connect with campus life at the University of Tennessee.  Team members will gain experience analyzing data, developing a social media strategic plan, and improve writing skills.

The Content Marketing team focuses on providing housing tours to prospective students and families, tabling at admissions information fairs, and staffing special events for University Housing.  As a Tours & Special Events team member, your campus room may be used as a show room for on-campus special group tours. Team members will gain experience in public speaking, marketing, and customer service.

Resident Assistant

The resident assistant position is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have on campus. This position provides an opportunity to meet new people, make a difference in the lives of others, and teach you skills for your future. As an RA, you will have an opportunity to graduate with a unique skill set and memories that will last a lifetime.

RA candidates must have a cumulative grade point of 2.75 to be eligible for hire.  In order to support the increased academic demands of the student teaching position, candidates who will be student teaching during the Fall 2017 – Spring 2018 academic year will not be considered.  A full academic year commitment to the position is required.  RA training will begin August 4th, 2017 and attendance is mandatory.

January 29, 2017 New RA Candidate Social. All eligible candidates are invited to learn more about the interview process from housing staff and current RAs. Attendance isn’t required, but it highly encouraged!
February 2-4, 2017 Interview process. You will need to be available for one of these days.
February 8, 2017 Candidates are notified by e-mail if they are invited to participate in the RA class during the spring semester.  Eligible candidates will be select their class time at the RA Class Kick-Off.
February 12, 2017 RA Class Kick-off. Mandatory meeting for eligible candidates to find out more about the RA class, receive class materials, choose class times, and meet instructors & fellow classmates.
February 13, 2017 RA Class begins.
April 14, 2017 Candidates will be notified via email of either hall placement or alternate status.
August 4, 2017 Mandatory Fall RA Training begins!

Office Assistant

The office assistant performs a variety of clerical and receptionist duties related to the administrative operations of the residence halls.  The OA is supervised by the building hall director, and is an enrolled student who has completed at least one academic semester of school at UT.  The OA understands the nuances of residence halls and can effectively answer student concerns and questions.

OFFICE ASSISTANT POSITION DESCRIPTION

Call Center Attendant

The Call Center Attendant (CCA) performs a variety of technical, and clerical duties related to the administrative operations of the residence halls.  The UT Housing Call Center serves as the epicenter for housings CCTV monitoring, Fire Alarm Monitoring and the single point of contact for Housing Related Issues.

The Call Center Attendant is supervised by the UT Housing Safety Supervisor, and must be an enrolled student who has completed at least one academic year of school at UT.  Preferably, the Attendant has previous University Housing work experience as an Orientation Assistant, Desk Assistant, or Post Office Assistant and therefore understands some of the interworking’s of the residence halls to most effectively answer student concerns and questions.  This position will include day, night and weekend hours with a cap of 20hrs per week.
