Housing Highlight: Housekeeping Staff

The University of Tennessee Department of University Housing Housekeeping staff has the privilege of taking care of all housing facilities. The students are our customers, and we enjoy taking care of them and being a part of their lives. Our facilities are open and available to our customers a minimum of 325 days per year, 24 hours per day, and 7 days per week, which includes holidays and weekends.

Our primary purpose is to provide general housekeeping/custodial services designed to maintain all University Housing facilities in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition. Our basic services include, but are not limited to, trash removal, recycling programs, grounds maintenance, regular cleaning of both public and residential areas, snow removal, and custodial support for summer conference programs.

During the summer, housekeeping employees spend lots of hours working to make our buildings a place to be proud of and comfortable for guests of all types – students, conferences, camps, and orientation.

This fall the University opened two new residential facilities, Orange and White Halls. Despite the difficulties, the housekeeping staff pulled together and helped to make it happen. We take pride in what we do and how we do it. Every single housekeeping employee contributes to the success of our department. Without them, we would not be the great department that we are. I am privileged to be a part of that.

Housekeeping staff, thank you for all you do!
